How do I pay for supplies from the Scientific Storeroom?
All labs need to be registered with the RRC and create an iLab account with a funding source such as an NIH grant. Once the account is created by the Primary Investigator, individual lab members can be granted access to the funds and be able to shop at the Scientific Storeroom. To register, please visit the RRC website.
Can I purchase with cash or a P-Card?
All transactions must go through iLab using the PI grants and internal fund transfers. For external customers such as Rush or VA, an iLab account can be created and labs billed from the RRC. Bills can be paid via money transfer, credit cards, etc.
How do I shop at the Scientific Storeroom?
- Order online and pick up your order at your convenience.
- Shop our online catalog, find the items you need, add them to the cart and complete the checkout online. We will package your order and you can come to our store to pick it up.
- Stop by either of our two locations, select the items you wish to purchase and bring them to the checkout kiosk.
Where are your store locations and what are the hours?
- MSB building (935), 3rd floor, room A305. Open Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM.
- SES building (619), 4th floor, room 4320. Open Tuesday- Thursday, 10:00AM-2:00PM.
Is the Scientific Storeroom non-profit?
Yes. While we provide supplies from for-profit vendors, the Scientific Storeroom itself is non-profit. Our pricing structure is closely monitored by the State of Illinois and created to cover our overhead expenses. The Scientific Storeroom has discount pricing contracts with the majority of vendors with whom we do business and frequently offers items cheaper than direct purchases from vendors, even with modest administrative fees.
